I was pleased to announce nearly $6.6 million in FedDev Ontario funding for 10 organizations across Eastern Ontario, including two businesses right here in the riding of Peterborough, to modernize operations, strengthen competitiveness and expand their products and services. The investments will help businesses adopt new technologies, increase production, strengthen supply chains and diversify into new markets.

Peterborough is home to innovative businesses that play an important role in strengthening our regional economy and supporting vibrant communities. These investments will help local businesses grow, innovate and remain competitive while creating new opportunities for the future.

I’m especially pleased to see two Peterborough businesses, Kawartha Metals Corp. and Merit Precision Ltd., receiving this important support.

Together, these investments will help businesses in our region modernize, improve productivity and build the capacity they need to compete and grow. I’m proud to see federal investments supporting businesses right here in Peterborough and helping build a stronger, more resilient local economy.

Kawartha Metals Corp. is receiving $500,000 toward a $1 million project to expand its advanced steel processing capabilities through the integration of specialized equipment. The company is a major supplier and processor of steel, aluminum, brass and plastic materials in Central and Eastern Ontario.

Merit Precision Ltd. is receiving $600,000 toward a $1.385 million project to modernize its manufacturing operations and support long-term growth through new product commercialization and expansion into new markets.

In addition, it was previously announced, that Havelock Metal Co. received $750,000 through the same program to expand its operations and strengthen its competitiveness.
