Federal Investment Supports Little Lake Loop Expansion
Federal investment of over $3.9 million brings total Little Lake Loop funding to $7.5 million

I was pleased to announce that the Government of Canada is investing more than $3.9 million through the Active Transportation Fund to support the completion of a new segment of the Little Lake Loop.
Joined by Mayor Jeff Leal, members of City Council, and City staff, we celebrated an investment that will help complete a key section of the 4.46-kilometre multi-use trail. Combined federal, provincial, and municipal funding of more than $7.5 million will support the completion of this important community project.
Throughout my election campaign and since being elected, I have heard from residents, community leaders, and active transportation advocates about the importance of completing the Little Lake Loop. Expanding our active transportation network has long been a community priority, and this investment helps move that vision forward.
This investment will help improve access to our waterfront, support local businesses and tourism, and create safe, welcoming spaces for residents and visitors alike. I’m proud to support a project that our community has championed for many years and look forward to seeing this next phase come to life.
As part of the Little Lake Master Plan, the Little Lake Loop is a key link in Peterborough's active transportation network, connecting residents and visitors to parks, businesses, and waterfront destinations. This project will extend the existing 2.34-kilometre loop by 1.15 kilometres along Crescent Street and Haggart Street.
The new segment will include lakeside pathways, cycle tracks, sidewalks, and multi-use trails, along with landscaping, shade structures, and seating areas to create a more accessible and welcoming space for residents and visitors of all ages.
